Bio
Professor Stephen Dobson, Dean of Education and the Arts at Central Queensland University, Australia and holds a guest professorship at the Centre for Lifelong Learning at Inland Norway University. Previously Dean of Education at Victoria University of Wellington and at UniSA. Recent books published: Learning Inclusion in a Digital Age. Belonging and Finding a Voice with the Disadvantaged (2024), Beyond Assessment – The Hidden World of Language Games (2023), Playful Science Investigations in Early Childhood. A Longitudinal Case Study (2023), Learning Cities. Multimodal Explorations and Placed Pedagogies (2018), Assessing the Viva in Higher Education (2017).
Stephen has been integral in the establishment of the Centre of Excellence – Educating for the Future (with State Islamic University of Jakarta, Centre of Islamic Thought and Education - University of South Australia and Centre Queensland University), and in 2022 he co-established a Learning Lab to research higher education teaching and learning.
Professor Pasi Sahlberg

Bio
Pasi Sahlberg is Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Melbourne, Australia. His previous work in Finland includes classroom teacher in Helsinki, teacher education in the University of Helsinki, and leading curriculum reforms and development at Finland’s National Agency of Education. He has worked as education specialist at the World Bank and the European Commission, and as visiting professor at Harvard University. He works with teachers, schools, education systems, and governments around the world to transform teaching and rethink curricula and learning. In 2023 he was a member of the Commonwealth Government’s expert panel to find ways to a better and fairer education systems in Australia. Pasi is a recipient of the 2012 Education Award in Finland, the 2014 Robert Owen Award in Scotland, and the 2021 Hedley Beare Award in Australia. Pasi is author of over 20 books, including “In Teachers We Trust: The Finnish Way to world class schools” in 2021. He lives with his family in South Melbourne.
Professor Bob Lingard

Bio
Dr Bob Lingard is a Professorial Fellow in The Institute for Learning Sciences and Teacher Education at Australian Catholic University and Emeritus Professor at The University of Queensland. He has also held the Andrew Bell Chair in Education at the University of Edinburgh (2006-2008) and was Research Professor at Sheffield University (2003-2006). He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and also a Fellow of the UK Academy of Social Sciences. He is a former President of the Australian Association for Research in Education and has been made a Life Member of that Association. He researches and publishes in the sociology of education, education policy and comparative education. His most recent books include, Exploring Education Policy through Newspapers and Social Media (Routledge, 2023), Reimagining Globalization and Education (Routledge, 2022), Global-National Networks in Education Policy: Primary Education, Social Enterprises and ‘Teach for Bangladesh’ (Bloomsbury, 2022), Digital Disruption in Teaching and Testing (Routledge, 2021), Globalisation and Education (Routledge, 2021), and Globalizing Educational Accountabilities (Routledge, 2016). He was for more than twenty years editor of the journal, Discourse: Studies in the Cultural Politics of Education and is currently joint editor of the Routledge book series, Key Ideas and Education.
Professor Donna Pendergast AM

Bio
Professor Donna Pendergast is Director, Engagement in the Arts, Education and Law Group and former Dean and Head of the School of Education and Professional Studies at Griffith University, Australia (2009-2023). She commenced her career as a secondary school teacher. Her expertise includes student engagement and teacher professional learning. Donna works at state and national levels shaping education policy including as: a member of the Board of the Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) (2018-); Chair of the Teacher Education Expert Standing Committee (TEESC) of AITSL (2019-); and in the former roles as Chair of the Queensland Educational Leadership Institute (QELi) (2018-2022); Chair of the Queensland Council of Deans of Education (QCDE)(2016-2022) and Vice President of the Australian Council of Deans of Education (ACDE (2021-2022). Donna is a member of the National Council for Be You, the school based well-being arm of Beyond Blue (2021-). She is a passionate middle years advocate and is an ambassador of Adolescent Success. Donna has been acknowledged for her leadership impact and is the recipient of the Griffith University Vice Chancellor’s Research Supervision Award for Excellence (2016); Australian Council for Educational Leadership Miller-Grassie Award for Outstanding Leadership in Education (2018); Australian Council of Deans of Education Award for Outstanding Service to Education and the Council (2022). In 2024 she was invested as a Member of the Order of Australia, received n the first King Charles Australia Day Awards, for significant contributions to education.
